В современных условиях переориентации и формирования новой национальной стратегии, направленной на развитие человеческого потенциала, в сочетании с неблагоприятными тенденциями демографического воспроизводства населения Украины усиливается актуальность исследований демографической составляющей общества. Отдельные компоненты современного состояния демографических процессов в Украине формировались в течение многих десятилетий, задолго до современных политических и социально-экономических изменений. Реакция населения на новые условия жизнедеятельности проявляется в изменении демографического поведения, снижении рождаемости, трансформации структуры и функций семьи, переоценке взглядов на брачно-семейные отношения. Важной проблемой общественно-географического исследования остается определение демографических трансформации Украины и отдельных ее регионов.
GIS-Module Ukrainian - watershed modeling software for environmental research purposes

The author’s approach of the GIS-Module Ukrainian software elaboration has been briefly introduced. This software links computer simulation of drainage areas with geoinformation technology implemented in this PC modeling system. Such an approach unites a strong spatial aspect of geomorphic-hydrologic research area of GIS applications with human environmental issues in watersheds. As a practical implementation of the approach suggested the GIS-Module software has been firstly presented in this paper in terms of its functionality, operational scope, and some basics for users. Few generalized regional examples of the GIS-Module using and testing have been provided.
Human geography with geographical information systems

The purpose of this paper is to represent that a GIS in human geography is not only a straightforward tool for generating and spatially analysing maps and graphics, but also is intended to identify certain spatial samples and to form new spatial derivative data for reaching advances in human geography research. Digital maps introduced as a paper map effective alternative made possible by GIS. Once introduced by the authors environmental geography concept is additionally discussed purely of human geography contribution to this field by geographical information systems. Traditional quantitative geography is explained to be a key basic for all following GIS applications in geographic sciences. The conclusion is made this field is highly essential for the further GISexpansion within human geography. Few examples of original software with respect of city key element extraction are suggested for the urban system analysis.

Matrimonial population structure as a part of regional geodemographic development (illustrated by Poltava region)

The article gives the definition of the term “family” as a component of geodemographic development and defines its main functions. The definition “marriage” is given. The divorces and marriages dynamic in Poltava region was analyzed per the studied period. The main influence factors were earmarked from the view of human geography. Two maps was built and analyzed based on data on divorces and marriages of Poltava region population in 2014. The problems of this situation were identified and ways for their solving were proposed. Conclusions on actuality of this issue and the future research were justified.

Population migration is a complex social phenomenon which is a certain indicator of the regional social and economic development. With the globalization processes development, increasing a role of transnational companies, expanding international investment activity migration processes significantly have been activated, especially in cross-border areas. An exchange of labor force is one of the interstate collaboration directions and spread of emigration and immigration processes promotes integration of Ukraine into the world economic space.
New social and economic processes in Kyiv’s hinterland

Belts of the time accessibility of Kyiv’s hinterland are determined. Analysis of the population number, density and rural population density by the belts of accessibility of Kyiv’s hinterland are conducted. Spatial difference in migration behaviour and housing construction are analysed. Spatial aspects of the cottage settlements construction around Kyiv are characterized. Specific of the logistics complexes concentration and industrial areas transformation within the hinterland are revealed. It is shown that metropolitan hinterland is characterized by functional fragmentation.
Peculiarities of countryside educational complex in Donetsk region

Spatial aspects of Kirovograd regional labor market functioning

The essence and the basic concepts of the formation of regional labor market are considered. Polygonal and point elements of spatial structure of the regional labor market are defined. Cluster analysis of territorial units of Kirovograd region by complete linkage and Ward’s methods is done; clusters of regions in terms of the socio-economic indicators manifestation at the labor market are identified. Typification of the local labor markets of Kirovograd region is carried out. Distinguishing of the sub-regional labor markets in the Kirovograd regional labor market is substantiated. The measures for optimization of the situation at the labor market of region are proposed.
Specific features of social infrastructure of rubal area in Donetsk region

The basic directions of optimization of social infrastructure in rural areas of Donetsk region are given.

Towards the environmental geography concept

Authors introduce the environmental geography concept. Environmental geography describes the spatial aspects of interactions between the human society and the natural environment. Spatial laws, trends and fluctuations make the environmental geography subject up. The paper examines briefly some regularities of this new discipline formation. As the key one among other methodological approaches the geomorphic method is selected for the watershed environment reconstruction. A relevant modeling example is introduced. A strong spatial aspect of this research implies GIS tools involvement, what is discussed in details, in particular – within human / environment interaction perspective.

The following article considers vital activity safety in the context of social-geographic research. The possibilities of realiza-tion of social geography’s new functions are substantiated by providing technogenic population vital safety. A modern paradigm of safety understanding in social science and reasons of its reformation are analyzed. Main contradictions of functioning and co-development of the “human-environment-technosphere” system are revealed. Main point of population vital activity safety in the conditions of the sustainable development is determined.
