Остготське відродження” як культурний феномен раннього Середньовіччя: джерела та особливості

Abstract

Кваліфікаційну роботу присвячено аналізу «Остготського Відродження» як культурно-історичного феномену раннього середньовіччя та його ролі у збереженні та трансформації античної спадщини в Італії VI ст. Метою дослідження є розкриття основних аспектів, пов'язаних із розвитком Остготського Відродження, визначення його характерних ознак та місця в європейській культурній тяглості. Об'єктом дослідження є процес формування, розвитку і трансформації Остготського Відродження як культурно-історичного феномену. Предметом дослідження виступають характерні ознаки та культурно-історичні пам'ятки остготської доби, а також інтелектуальні та мистецькі прояви правління Теодоріха Великого. Методологічну основу становить принцип історизму в поєднанні з цивілізаційним підходом, що дозволяє розглядати остготську Італію як простір синтезу античної, християнської та «варварської» традицій. У роботі застосовано порівняльно-історичний метод, джерелознавчий аналіз письмових і матеріальних свідчень, а також культурологічний та мистецтвознавчий аналіз архітектури, мозаїк, скульптури та епіграфіки. Використано системний і структурно-функціональний підходи для комплексного осмислення взаємодії влади, релігії, освіти, мистецтва та філософії. У результаті встановлено, що остготська доба в Італії стала періодом відносної політичної стабільності, що забезпечила збереження римських інституцій, правових практик та освітньо-риторичної традиції. Проаналізовано твори Касіодора, Боеція, Йордана, Еннодія як джерела інтелектуальної культури епохи та як культурні артефакти, що відображають ідеологічні орієнтири програми civilitas. На матеріалі пам'яток Равенни показано прояви культурного синтезу на рівні художніх форм і стилістики та перехід від античного реалізму до більш символічної, духовно орієнтованої естетики. Наукова новизна полягає у комплексному поєднанні аналізу письмових джерел, матеріальної культури та історіографічних дискусій щодо поняття «відродження», що дозволяє уточнити зміст і межі Остготського Відродження як процесу не лише збереження, а й активного культурного оновлення. Загальні висновки засвідчують, що Остготське Відродження було важливим механізмом культурної спадкоємності між античністю та середньовіччям і суттєво вплинуло на формування середньовічної європейської культурної моделі. Результати можуть бути використані у курсах з історії раннього середньовіччя, історії культури та мистецтва, а також у подальших дослідженнях проблеми культурних трансформацій постримського Заходу.

The qualification thesis is devoted to an analysis of the “Ostrogothic Revival” as a cultural and historical phenomenon of the early Middle Ages and its role in the preservation and transformation of the ancient heritage in 6th-century Italy. The aim of the research is to reveal the main aspects related to the development of the Ostrogothic Revival, identify its characteristic features, and determine its place in European cultural continuity. The object of the research is the process of formation, development, and transformation of the Ostrogothic Revival as a cultural and historical phenomenon. The subject of the research comprises the characteristic features and cultural and historical monuments of the Ostrogothic period, as well as the intellectual and artistic manifestations of the reign of Theodoric the Great. The methodological foundation of the study is based on the principle of historicism combined with a civilizational approach, which makes it possible to consider Ostrogothic Italy as a space of synthesis of ancient, Christian, and “barbarian” traditions. The thesis employs the comparative-historical method, source studies analysis of written and material evidence, as well as cultural studies and art historical analysis of architecture, mosaics, sculpture, and epigraphy. Systemic and structural-functional approaches are used for a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between power, religion, education, art, and philosophy. The research establishes that the Ostrogothic period in Italy was characterized by relative political stability, which contributed to the preservation of Roman institutions, legal practices, and educational and rhetorical traditions. The works of Cassiodorus, Boethius, Jordanes, and Ennodius are analyzed as sources of the intellectual culture of the period and as cultural artifacts reflecting the ideological principles of the civilitas program. The monuments of Ravenna demonstrate manifestations of cultural synthesis at the level of artistic forms and stylistics, as well as the transition from ancient realism to a more symbolic and spiritually oriented aesthetic. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the comprehensive combination of the analysis of written sources, material culture, and historiographical discussions concerning the concept of “revival,” which makes it possible to clarify the content and boundaries of the Ostrogothic Revival as a process involving not only the preservation but also the active renewal of culture. The general conclusions demonstrate that the Ostrogothic Revival was an important mechanism of cultural continuity between antiquity and the Middle Ages and had a significant influence on the formation of the medieval European cultural model. The results may be used in courses on the history of the early Middle Ages, the history of culture and art, as well as in further research on the cultural transformations of the post-Roman West.
