The thesis is devoted to the experimental and theoretical study of the formation conditions and dynamics of the self-sustained plasma-beam discharge at high energy density in the high-current pulsed plasma diode of low pressure. The design feature of this plasma diode is the limitation of the high-voltage electrode working surface. This made it possible to concentrate high current density (up to 2 MA/cm2) on high-voltage electrode and promoted the formation of the space charge double layer near its working surface. In order to evaluate the efficiency of energy input into the plasma, a method for calculating the active power of a high-current pulsed discharge is provided. The dynamics of the discharge active power has been calculated based on the dynamics of the discharge current using the discharge circuit equation of a high-current pulsed discharge. The calculations did not take into account all the active power, but only that which is caused by charged particles beams accelerated in the double layer. The double layer is responsible for the local energy input into the discharge, due to the powerful collective dissipative mechanism of energy transfer from the electron beam to the plasma.
