Abstract

У роботі розглядаються ранньовізантійські агіографічні джерела IV-VII століть. Було поставлено завдання проаналізувати цінність агіографічних джерел з історичної точки зору. Внаслідок дослідження було виявлено, що агіографічні джерела Кирилла Скіфопольского та інших агіографів, які найчастіше за все самі були очевидцями подій, дають нам розуміння культури, менталітету, побуту ромеїв. Кирилл Скіфопольский зокрема, будучи точним істориком та знавцем Палестини, дає нам надзвичайну картину розвитку палестинського чернецтва. А це означає, що вивчення агіографічних джерел з історичної точки зору цілком виправдало себе, даючи нам цінні відомості про ромеїв та історію Ранньої Візантії.Early Byzantine hagiographic sources of the IV-VII centuries are considered in the work. The task was to analyze the value of hagiographic sources from a historical point of view. As a result of the research, it was found that the hagiographic sources of Kirill Skifopolsky and other hagiographers, who most often were eyewitnesses to the events themselves, give us an understanding of the culture, mentality, and lifestyle of the rhomaioi. Kirill Skifopolsky, in particular, being an accurate historian and expert on Palestine, gives us an extraordinary picture of the development of Palestinian monasticism. And this means that the study of hagiographic sources from a historical point of view fully justified itself, giving us valuable information about the rhomaioi and the history of Early Byzantium.
