Римський кавалерійський корпус у III столітті та подальший розвиток його «етнічних» підрозділів

Abstract

Дослідження присвячене вивченню процесу утворення та подальшого розвитку підрозділів регулярної «етнічної» кінноти, що були сформовані у контексті створення мобільного корпусу у середині ІІІ ст. імператором Галлієном. Окрім безпосереднього вивчення історичного шляху equites Dalmatae та equites Mauri, особлива увага була присвячена контекстним подіям, процесам та явищам, що мали вплив на причини, цілі та стимули для розвитку цих контингентів. Так, окремі параграфи праці були присвячені історичному фону досліджуваних процесів, конструюванню явища мобільного корпусу, його складу та чисельності, ролі реформ Діоклетіана та Константина у розвитку вказаних підрозділів. У висновку зазначено, що підрозділи equites Dalmatae та equites Mauri на перших етапах свого існування мали разючі відмінності, але з плином часу спільне існування у контексті пізньої римської військової системи майже повністю нівелювало наявну «етнічну» специфіку підрозділів. Ряд історичних подій та процесів виступили у якості «плавильного котла» та звели існування цих частин до ролі «стройових» підрозділів із етнічними назвами у якості архаїчної традиції.The work is devoted to the study of the process of formation and further development of units of regular "ethnic" cavalry, which were formed in the context of the creation of a mobile corps in the middle of the third century by emperor Gallienus. In addition to the direct study of the historical path of equites Dalmatae and equites Mauri, special attention was paid to contextual events, processes and phenomena that influenced the causes, goals and incentives for the development of these contingents. Thus, some paragraphs of the work were devoted to the historical background of the studied processes, the construction of the phenomenon of the mobile corps, its composition and number, the role of the reforms of Diocletian and Constantine in the development of these units. The conclusion states that the equites Dalmatae and Equites Mauri in the early stages of their existence had striking differences, but over time, coexistence in the context of the late Roman military system almost completely eliminated the existing "ethnic" specifics of the units. A number of historical events and processes acted as a "melting pot" and reduced the existence of these units to the role of "military" units with ethnic names as an archaic tradition.
