Abstract
The thesis is devoted to a comprehensive study of the mechanisms of information influence employed by a totalitarian state to shape public consciousness, using the Soviet-Yugoslav conflict of 1948–1953 as a case study. The study analyzes the Soviet state propaganda system and its functioning during the first phase of the Cold War, with particular attention to the anti-Yugoslav campaign and its role in ideologically discrediting the leadership of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia and Josip Broz Tito. The methodological framework is based on an interdisciplinary approach combining the social constructivist paradigm with a range of historical methods, including database creation, quantitative and qualitative content analysis, automated processing of press archives using Digital History tools and artificial intelligence, as well as comparative-historical, visual, and discourse analysis. The study identifies the specific narratives, methods, images, and instruments employed by Soviet propaganda to construct the image of Yugoslavia and Tito in the Soviet information space, traces the transformation of anti-Yugoslav narratives, and examines the mechanisms through which mass media were used as instruments of political and ideological influence and social mobilization.
