У статті на підставі історіографічної та джерельної бази досліджується початковий період французького колоніального грабунку в зоні Антильських островів (1528–1559 рр.) який носив піратський характер. Автор аналізує організаційні та політичні причини зміцнення корсарського промислу, робить огляд піратських нападів на іспанські колонії. У ході дослідження було з’ясовано, що поліпшення Іспанією конвойної системи у 40–50-х рр. XVI ст. виявилось ефективним засобом зменшення корсарської загрози для колоніальних комунікацій. A. About French Sea Robbery in West India (1528–1559) According to the historiographical and source bases the author in the article researches initial period of French colonial robbery in the area of Antilles, which had a pirate character. Author researches organizational and political reasons for strengthening of corsair industry and reviews the pirate attacks on Spanish colonies. During the investigation it was found out that improvement of the guards in Spain 40–50-s of the XVI century proved to be effective in reducing the corsairs’ threat to the colonial communications. During work the reasons of wide circulation of piracy in Atlantic of specified period and the degree of the importance of sea robbery in disruption the Spanish colonial monopoly have been regarded.ru_RU
