У 2007–2008 рр. під час розкопок генуезької фортеці Чембало (м. Балаклава) були виявлені залишки залізного пластинчатого обладунку. Вони перебували на ділянці консульського замку фортеці, де в XV ст. була розташована велика метальна машина типу требюше. Автор публікації виділяє три типи пластин прямокутної й трапецієподібної форми. Знахідки із Чембало мають численні аналогії із пластинчатими обладунками, виявленими в Північному Причорномор’ї, в Північній Русі і Західній Європі. Характер й обставини знахідки дозволяють припустити, що виявлені деталі обладунку були частиною бригандини — обладунку, широко розповсюдженого в XIV—XV ст. На думку автора публікації, обладунок належав одному з арбалетників місцевого гарнізону й був втрачений під час штурму фортеці турками-османами в 1475 р.

S. Dyachkov. Brigandine of Arbalest from Cembalo

In 2007–2008 during the excavations of Genoese colony in Cembalo (the town of Balaklava) there were discovered the remains of iron lamellar armour. They were found in the part of Council’s castle of the fortress, where a big missile machine of trebuchet type was located in the XV th century. The author of the article defines 3 types of rectangular and trapeziform plates.The finds in Cembalo have a lot in common with the lamellar armour found on the Northern coast of the Black Sea, in Russ and in Western Europe. The character and circumstances of the find let us suppose that the discovered detailes part of the brigandine — the armour widely spread in the XIV—XV centuries. According to the author of the article, the armour belonged to thee arbalest of the local garrison and was lost during the assault on the fortress by Osman Turks in 1475.
