This dissertation focuses on the study of the functioning of verbal, nonverbal, and superverbal communicative components in the English authoritarian discourse of children. The paper regards the authoritarian discourse of children as communication conditioned by the status and role properties of the child who manifests dominance on various semiotic levels, thus establishing a power-subordinate relationship with the addressee, and compelling him to modify his behavior. Child authoritarianness is implemented in the “child – child” and “child – adult” communicative models, in which there is a social distance between speakers, and the structural, semantic, and linguo-pragmatic properties of communication depend on the age and discursive surroundings of the child. Siblings implement authoritarianness to develop relations of subordination with a younger brother / sister, and to narrow the gap in status with an older one through the use of intellectual superiority markers and comprehension indicators, lexemes that carry a negative connotation, irony, argumentation, repetitions, personal / possessive pronouns, cooperation- or confrontation-oriented tactile gestures. In the interaction with children from non-nuclear discursive surroundings, the authoritarian speaker establishes control, mentors or devalues the position of the addressee via pejorative vocatives, negative adjectives, modal verbs of obligation, complex syntactic constructions, conditional sentences, vulgar register vocabulary, discourse markers of lecturing and self-praise, monologue.
dc.description.abstractДисертацію присвячено аналізу функціонування вербальних, невербальних та надвербальних компонентів комунікації у дитячому авторитарному дискурсі. Авторитарна дитина здійснює вплив на адресата для встановлення владно-підвладних стосунків, беручи до уваги вікові та прагматичні характеристики адресата (дитина/дорослий; ядерна/не ядерна зона дискурсивного оточення) та реалізує позитивну/негативну авторитарність. Вона встановлює ієрархічні стосунки із однолітком і нівелює статусну вертикаль із дорослим. Позитивну авторитарність утілює стратегія позитивного домінування; негативну – маніпулювання, негативного домінування, дискредитації. Авторитарність із дорослим імплементується через стратегії негативного домінування та самоствердження. Успішність авторитарного впливу маніфестує підкорення адресата, неуспішність – дискурсивний супротив.
