Abstract
У статі представлено підходи провідних науковців до визначення самостійної роботи. Розкрито основні принципи організації самостійної роботи студентів з іноземної мови: активність, індивідуалізація навчання, доступність, чіткість та визначеність завдань, наочність, систематичність та послідовність, зв’язок із життям тощо.

Prominent scientists’ definitions of the independent work are presented in the article. The main principles of students’ independent work organization in foreign languages (activity, individualization of training, intelligibility, precision and definiteness of tasks, demonstrativeness, consistency and sequence and others) are given.
