Abstract

Конспект лекцій «Глобальні проблеми мови та суспільства» підготовлено для студентів освітньо-кваліфікаційного рівня «Магістр» факультету іноземних мов і присвячено дослідженню глобальних соціокультурних процесів та їхнього впливу на сучасну мовну ситуацію у світі. Видання висвітлює актуальні проблеми глобалістики як міждисциплінарної науки, культурної та політичної глобалізації, суперечностей глобалізаційних процесів, мовної політики, мовної нерівності та ролі мови у сучасному суспільстві. Особлива увага приділяється аналізу мови як інструменту влади, ідентичності та міжкультурної комунікації в умовах глобальних трансформацій. У конспекті розглянуто основні теоретичні підходи до вивчення глобалізації, історію розвитку глобалістики, сучасні концепції культурної та політичної інтеграції, а також проблеми цифрової нерівності, інформаційних впливів і трансформації національних культур. Значну увагу приділено мовним аспектам глобалізації, зокрема домінуванню англійської мови, проблемам лінгвоциду, мовної асиміляції та захисту мовного різноманіття. У межах курсу також аналізується концепція сталого розвитку ООН та її зв’язок із глобальними соціальними, екологічними та гуманітарними викликами сучасності. Матеріал подано у логічно структурованій формі та поєднує теоретичний аналіз із прикладами сучасних міжнародних процесів і тенденцій. Конспект спрямований на формування у студентів системного та критичного мислення, здатності аналізувати глобальні виклики й оцінювати їхній вплив на мовну політику, культуру та міжнародну комунікацію. The lecture notes Global Issues of Language and Society were prepared for Master’s degree students of the School of Foreign Languages and focus on the study of global sociocultural processes and their impact on the contemporary linguistic situation worldwide. The publication addresses current issues of global studies as an interdisciplinary field, cultural and political globalization, contradictions of globalization processes, language policy, linguistic inequality, and the role of language in modern society. Particular attention is devoted to language as an instrument of power, identity, and intercultural communication in the context of global transformations. The lecture notes examine the principal theoretical approaches to globalization studies, the historical development of globalistics, modern concepts of cultural and political integration, as well as issues related to digital inequality, information influence, and the transformation of national cultures. Considerable emphasis is placed on the linguistic dimensions of globalization, including the dominance of the English language, the problems of language death, linguistic assimilation, and the protection of linguistic diversity. The course also explores the concept of sustainable development promoted by the United Nations and its connection with contemporary global social, ecological, and humanitarian challenges. The material is presented in a logically structured form and combines theoretical analysis with examples of contemporary international processes and trends. The lecture notes are aimed at developing students’ systematic and critical thinking skills, as well as their ability to analyze global challenges and assess their impact on language policy, culture, and international communication.
