Концепт ШЛЮБ у романі Тейлор Дженкінс "The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo"

Abstract

У сучасному мовознавстві дослідження концептів посідає центральне місце, оскільки вони відображають взаємозв’язок мови, мислення та культури. Метою дипломної роботи є визначення змістового наповнення та структурної організації концепту ШЛЮБ у зазначеному романі. Досягнення поставленої мети передбачає виконання таких завдань: з’ясування сутності поняття «концепт» у сучасній когнітивній лінгвістиці; визначення специфіки художнього концепту; обґрунтування методологічних засад його дослідження; аналіз мовних засобів репрезентації концепту в художньому тексті; моделювання його структури за допомогою фреймового підходу; виявлення основних смислових характеристик і функціональних особливостей досліджуваного концепту. Об’єктом дослідження є концепт ШЛЮБ у учасному англомовному художньому дискурсі, а предметом – його структурно-змістова організація та мовна репрезентація в романі Тейлор Дженкінс Рід «The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo». Матеріалом дослідження слугує текст зазначеного роману, який є репрезентативним джерелом для аналізу художнього концепту. Результати дослідження засвідчують, що концепт ШЛЮБ у романі постає як складна багатовимірна когнітивна структура, яка поєднує соціальні, культурні та особистісні смисли й відображає еволюцію світогляду головної героїні. Його інтерпретація змінюється залежно від життєвих обставин і репрезентує шлюб як соціальний інститут, інструмент кар’єрного зростання, форму партнерства та духовної єдності.

In modern linguistics, the study of concepts occupies an important place, since concepts reflect the interrelation between language, thinking, and culture. The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze the structural organization and linguistic representation of the concept of MARRIAGE in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. To achieve this aim, the following objectives are set: to clarify the essence of the notion of “concept” in modern cognitive linguistics; to determine the specific features of the literary concept; to substantiate the methodological principles of its analysis; to examine the linguistic means of concept representation in a literary text; to model its structure using the frame approach; to identify the main semantic characteristics and functional peculiarities of the studied concept. The object of the research is the concept of MARRIAGE in contemporary English-language literary discourse, while the subject is its structural-semantic organization and linguistic representation in Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. The material of the research is the text of the novel, which serves as the basis for the analysis of the literary concept. The results of the research demonstrate that the concept of MARRIAGE in the novel appears as a complex multidimensional cognitive structure combining social, cultural, and personal meanings. Its interpretation changes depending on the heroine’s life circumstances and represents marriage as a social institution, a tool for career advancement, a form of partnership, and spiritual intimacy.
