Інтерпретації етноніму «сіверяни» в історіографії

Abstract

Стаття присвячена огляду тлумачень етноніма «сіверяни» в історіографії та їх впливу на розвиток уявлень про походження і ранню історію дніпровських сіверян. У статті робиться висновок про те, що в історіографії існує велике розмаїття інтерпретацій етноніма «сіверяни», а також, що вибір того чи іншого трактування визначає погляд історика на виникнення сіверян в Подніпров’ї.The article reviewing attempts to interpret the ethnonym «Severians» in historiography and their influence on the development of ideas about the origin and early history of the Dnieper Severians. The article concludes that there are a wide variety of interpretations of the ethnonym «Severians» in historiography, and also that the preference for particular interpretation determines the historian’s view of the emergence of Severians in the Dnieper basin.
