Stylistic Devices of Syntax as a Factor of Eptonymization in Terms of Language Iconicity

Abstract

The study aims at finding out how parallel syntactic constructions influence meaning and functions of the German eptonyms. It was estimated that the parallel constructions, chiasmus in particular, being stylistic devices of syntax, represent an iconic reflection of eptonymic features, foster verbal imprinting (eptonymization) and derivation processes (phraseologization).
