The current state of Thyronectria study in Ukraine: correction of data from the herbaria and the literature
(Kharkiv : H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, 2022) Akulov, O.Yu.;
Fungicolous fungi are a large and heterogeneous group, the entire life cycle of which, or at least a significant part of it, takes place in association with other fungi. The nature of the interaction between the fungicolous fungus and their host is not always clear, but quite often it is parasitism, which is quite specialized. Compared to other trophic groups of fungi, fungicolous organisms still have been poorly studied. Often even widely distributed and well-known fungi, like Tremella spp., which for a long time were considered as xylosaprotrophic or phytopathogenic, appeared to be fungicolous after the careful research. The representatives of the genus Thyronectria, which may serve as an example of such a fungi, are considered in this article. Many important features of the biology of the species, assigned to this genus, still remain unknown. Our work is based on critical analysis and summarizing of literature data, as well as on the revision of the collections from the mycological collections of KW (M.G. Kholodny Institute of Botany, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kyiv) and CWU (V.N. Karazin National University of Kharkiv). For now, 6 representatives of the genus have been reliably recorded in Ukraine. The species with the largest number of finds are Thyronectria berolinensis (17 records), T. caraganae (7 records), T. cucurbitula (7 records) and T. coryli (6 records). Thyronectria lamyi and T. rhodochlora are represented by a smaller number of finds (by 3 records each). It should be noted, that the species Thyronectria caraganae Voglmayr, Akulov & Jaklitsch was described from the territory of Ukraine and remains known only from this country. T. chlorinella was excluded from a checklist as doubtful find, T. megalospora – as a misidentified collection. Information about some of the findings is published here for the first time. For some species of the genus, the host fungus is also given for the first time

The article provides information about a worldwide rare species of fungicolous fungi Letendraea helminthicola (Berk. et Broome) Weese ex Petch, recently found by the author on the territory of National Nature Park “Skolivsky Beskydy” (Skole area, L’viv region, Carpathians, Ukraine). This fungus sporulates on the conidiomata of Helminthosporium spp., mainly H. velutinum Link on the branches of trees. Until now, Letendraea representatives have not been recorded on the territory of Ukraine. General characteristics of the genus, a brief historical sketch of its research and modern views of its systematic position in Ascomycota system (Didymosphaeriaceae Munk sensu Ariyawansa et al, Pleosporales Luttr. ex M.E. Barr, Dothideomycetes O.E. Erikss. et Winka) are presented. In this study, besides our own sample of Letendraea helminthicola, we investigated the isotype of this species from scientific herbarium of the Department of Mycology and Plant Resistance of V.N. Karasin Kharkiv National University. Complete nomenclature characteristics, the detailed description, original illustrations, as well as the information about ecological features of this species and its distribution in the world are given below.

Basidiomycete fungus P. сalyptratus is red listed species for Western Europe and common for Ukraine. 179 substrate units of P. сalyptratus (poplar wood) from the territory of National Nature Park «Gomilshansky lisy» were described. Fruit bodies occurs on both dead and living trees. It may be an evidence of P. calyptratus endotrophy lifestyle. This hypothesis requires additional molecular genetic testing.

First data about fungal diversity of the “Trekhizbenskyi Step” division of the Luhansk Nature Reserve
2013) Ordynets, O.; Akulov, O.; Helleman, Stip
One hundred and fifty fungal species were revealed by us in the “Trekhizbenskyi Step” division of the Luhansk Nature Reserve. Of them, 52 species are those belonging to Ascomycota and 98 to Basidiomycota. All the species are reported from the research area for the first time. Eleven species are recorded in Ukraine for the first time. The records of Perrotia cf. succina (W. Phillips) Dennis and Streptotinia caulophylli M.E. Elliott are new to Europe. Phaeosphaeria sp. collected from Chamaecytisus ruthenicus (Fisch. ex Vorosch.) Klask. is supposed to be a new species. Detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations are provided both for taxonomically significant records and the species that are firstly revealed in Ukraine.

Н. В.; Tokarsky, V.A.; Petrova, Ye.A.; Miroshnichenko, V.V.

Annotated checklist of aphyllophoroid fungi of Ukraine
    (2003) Akulov, A.Yu.; Usichenko, A.S.; Leontyev, D.V.; Yurchenko, E.O.; Prydik, N.P.
The checklist of aphyllophoroid fungi (except of taxa with typical clavarioid and stipitate cantharelloid basidiomata) based on the data of literature since 1842 and examined collections from 􀀀 WU, KW, LE, and MSK herbaria includes 461 species. Five species are belonged to doubtful records; 30 names are classified as dubious, confused, or of unclear application. The species are accompanied with the numbers of reference herbarium specimens, data on the earliest publishing for Ukraine, distribution in botanic- geographical districts (geobotanical regions) of Ukraine, and appropriate numbered literature references. Besides of upto-date nomenclature, the synonyms used in the quoted publications and herbarium labels are listed. Six species are recorded from Ukraine for the first time on the base of collections gathered by the authors. The new species and new finds for the geobotanical region (districts) are provided by brief information about locality, substratum, collector(s), and date of collection. Taxa are arranged according to the system accepted in the 9th edition of Ainsworth and Bisby's dictionary of the fungi . The checklist is supplemented by the floristic bibliography on aphyllophoroid fungi of Ukraine with titles in original languages and in English.
