И.S. Liman. History of Reformation and Religion Wars in the Studies of Medievists in Ukrainian Lands of Russian Empire, 1805–First Half of 1880s. Ukrainian medievists in 1805–first half of 1880s made a substantial contribution into the study of history of Reformation and Religion Wars. They studied the course of Reformation movement in several European countries: Germany, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Poland. The most outstanding results were attained by M. N. Petrov (history of the Great Farmers’ War in Germany), I. V. Luchitskiy (history of Reformation and Religion Wars in France), N. N. Lyubovich (history of Reformation in Poland). These studies met the level of their contemporary science, many of their findings preserving scientific value up to our days. The attempts of Ukrainian medievists to treat the history of Reformation first of all in socioeconomic and political aspects must be considered a progressive trend for that time. This trend was an evidence of advanced positivist methodology affecting the Ukrainian historiography since the middle of 19th century. И.S. Liman. Medieval History in the Works of Kharkiv Researchers (1804–1835) The article dwells on the history of study of problems of foreign Middle Ages by Kharkiv scientists in 1804–1835. Those problems were: the condition of science and education in Middle Ages, effect of Byzantine law on Rus, international relations. Kharkiv scientists also turned to certain social and economic aspects (development of trade, protectionism systems, forms of land titles). The concepts of 18th century Education historians and from 1830s also Hegelian philosophy of history exerted a gigantic effect on their workings. At the same time the influence of providencialism remained traditionally strong. The geography of works of Kharkiv scientists embraced West European countries, Byzantium, Middle East, European colonies in Americas as well as the history of foreign Slavic peoples (in fragments). During this period the most obvious contribution to the study and teaching of Medieval history was brought by A. A. Degurov, I. F. Timkovskiy, V. F. Tsykh. І. Н. Н. К. S. Liman. History оf Genovese Colonies in Crimea in the Works of Ukrainian Medievists (1830s—first half of 1880s) The article discusses the history of study by Ukrainian medievists in 1830s — first half of 1880s of various problems of medieval Genovese colonies in Crimea and the influence of Tartars and Osmanic Turks on the fate of those colonies. This work is found to have been performed in several aspects (history, archaeology, source studies, epigraphics and numismatics). These studies met the level of their contemporary science, many of their findings preserving scientific value up to our days. The main center of such studies was Odessa (Odessa Society of History and Antiquities since 1839, University of Novorossia since 1865). Further expansion of their themes is tracked. The scientists paid attention mostly to history of Caffa, due to its leading position among all Genovese settlements in Crimea. The largest contribution to the study of medieval past of those settlements was brought by Pp. I. Keppen, N. N. Murzakevich, V. N. Yurgevich, F. K. Brun.
